What are you reaching for as you head into the last few weeks of summer?
This recipe is my suggestion to help you wind down the summer, enjoy its final rays of sunshine, and ease into the fall!
Cinnamon, clove and grapefruit are often found in tiki-style cocktails - and they also are a preview of fall flavors. I decided to play on those notes, using the Grapefruit CBD Seltzer from High Rise.
To bring the cinnamon and clove into the mix, I made a simple syrup with cane sugar and water infused with cinnamon and clove (recipe below).

Tropical Tides
- 3 oz Grapefruit CBD Seltzer
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- 0.75 oz fresh grapefruit juice
- 0.5 oz cinnamon clove syrup
- Shake everything but the seltzer with pebble ice
- Add 3 oz of seltzer to the shaking tin and open pour into a highball glass
- Top with 1 oz or more of Grapefruit CBD Seltzer and garnish with mint
Cinnamon Clove Syrup:
- 1 cup cane sugar
- 1 cup water
- 9 cinnamon sticks, broken
- 20-30 cloves
- Combine sugar, water, cinnamon and clove in a pot on medium heat until sugar and water combine
- Simmer for 7-12 minutes and then add the mixture to a mason jar
- Let cinnamon and clove infuse in the syrup for 24-48 hours (to taste)
- Strain and bottle.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks
